Jonas De Ro

"Write your first draft with your heart. Re-write with your head. ~From the movie Finding Forrester"

Devient art is a site I've been on for at least three years now to share my creative writing, but it's so great to check out new and amazing artists. Everyone has their own style or writing, their own ideas,  the site is fantastic for artists! I love exploring through picture after picture and after doing this for a few hours (while doing doing homeworkD:) I came across a certain picture that caught my eye straight away. It was the picture titled, 'Mandira' by Jonas De Ro, digital artist. This picture was exceptional, a fantasy town that looks like it's from a movie or a game. So naturally, I decided to look at his other work.

And all I could say is wow. His work is just a breath of creativity and you can really tell that it's his passion. The quality of the work amazed me and I truly consider checking him out. He's a concept artist for Warner Bros studios! If that doesn't scream professional, I don't know what does.

Take a look at some of his stuff!

Immortal City review

“To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the inner music the words make.  ~Truman Capote, November 1967”

Wondering around an old English book shop I found myself reaching for this beauty, Immortal City by Scott Speer. The cover art is what brought me in straight away and of course, that caption 'When guardian angels protect for money, what happens if one saves for love?' I had never seen a book like this; never heard of this idea. And that's what I love, something new and different in the young adult book shelves that I haven't come across.

Now, the way Speer has described his characters and added all of those little details really had my hand turning quickly over each page. He has gone that extra mile in describing the angels clothing exactly, which is key to his characters. In this book, angels are a novelty to humans, they're celebrities and Speer has portrayed this excellently.

However the one thing that irked me is the few typos found in the book that I couldn't help but notice however when I was pulled into this story, this new world where angels save only people with lots of money, it didn't matter. I'm a sucker for a good love story, a twist between them and a little action - this book had it and as soon as I can, I'll be purshasing the second book.

Have you read it? What would you rate it?
Let me know!

Introduction

"Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth"

Many who read this blog will be thinking why exactly this blog has been made and honestly, all I can say is that I want to share my passion for writing and what it can do for you. I'm only young, I don't know what my future holds or what will happen, hell, I don't want to! But the one thing I'm sure about is that I will always be writing. The characters that I create, the plots, the scenes, everything about it excites me untill I have to have it written down. And why not? If you've got the will - go for it!

So this is my first blog post of hopefully many as I document how a young English girl is trying to acheive her dreams little by little. Everyone struggles with what they want to do in life, it's a path of winding roads that can swing you into any at whatever time. Throw you off balance untill you no longer know where you're going. Life is a rollercoaster. I know it. We know it. So why not have fun while trying to figure out who you are? That's what I'm doing and that's why I'm here.

I am currently writing my own book and will be sharing my journey into the world of publishing and contests that I may enter. There will be book reviews, artist reviews, perhaphs some do it yourself' posts and most of all, fun. I'm having fun with this blog and you're welcome to join me.
