"Nothing makes me so happy as to observe nature and to paint what I see" - Henri Rousseau
This is a medium that has both challenged me and made me love it. I found it extremely hard to even get a good picture going as whenever I placed a brush stroke in the wrong place, well, I panicked. After a few years of never giving up on this type of paint I eventually got used to the techniques and found that if you make a mistake, that doesn't matter, just make it work! You can layer the paint or work with the mistake made. Of course, there are times when the mistake made is irrevocable but that happens sometimes. My favourite paint is water colour but it's always good to work with variation and widen your skills and really, some pictures produced in this medium are breathtaking. Acrylic is good as thick paint or watered down and this mixes up your work into something unpredictable. People work at it for days, months and years, perfecting their skill and it is totally worth it. There are always different styles and techniques with a type of paint and with acrylic the realistic paintings are just fantastic.
Now I'm not the best painter and I never will be but that doesn't stop me and it shouldn't stop you. I'll tell you the truth, I don't work in this medium often but I do look at some pictures to help me get inspired and actually try it again. I thought I'd share some with you because this type of paint is worth it!
